Soothing Sounds
 We are surrounded by noise - the rush of traffic, airplanes overhead, humming refrigerators, etc. - all of which can contribute to your anxiety and stress.
  Five-Minute healer: Listen to relaxing classical music (such as Bach, Vivaldi or Gregorian chants). Or spend a few minutes in nature. Sit by a fountain in a park...listen to the rustling of leaves...tune in to the rushing sounds of the wind.
  A study at a New York hospital showed that hypertensive patients obtained normal systolic blood pressure after listening to classical music or nature sounds for approximately three minutes. Other studies have shown that soothing sounds can reduce the need for pain medications by up to 30%.

FEBRUARY-MARCH RECIPE

Caramelized  Onion Flat Bread - an appetizer courtesy of Carol Derby
  • 1 large sweet onion, sliced
  • 3 tbl. extra virgin oil (evoo), divided
  • (1)  13.8 oz. refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 1/4 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 tsp. rosemary (fresh) finely chopped (if you have dried rosemary, use less than 1 tsp.)
 Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees
  Saute' onion in 1 tbl. olive oil until golden brown. Lightly grease a 15 x 10 jelly roll pan. Press pizza dough to the edges of the pan. Take a wooden spoon & press into the dough at one inch intervals. Drizzle with remaining 2 tbl. of olive oil. Sprinkle the dough with salt, rosemary & sauteed onions. Bake 10 minutes on the lowest rack of the oven. Cut into approximately 2 inch squares.
Optional-  you can provide side dishes of regular and dijon mustard for dipping.

FRAMING NEWS
  The Effect Of Light
  All paper stocks deteriorate, to some degree, upon exposure to intense light and/or high temperature. Few pigments or inks can withstand the direct, or even indirect or reflected, rays of sunlight. Accordingly, it is strongly recommended that such exposure to a print or reproduction be avoided. A picture so exposed will quickly fade. The paper may become brittle and mottled in a short time. In effect, quality reproductions and prints should be given the same care as original art.

 UPCOMING MARCH EVENT
  The annual "Relay For Life" spring dance will be held on March 20th at the Marshall Country Club in Marshall. Tickets are $15.00 per person or $25.00 per couple. As always, tickets are limited in number, so please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to attend. This is a wonderful fun filled evening featuring a DJ for dancing, hearty appetizers, raffle prizes and a cash bar. I hope to see you there!
