RELAY FOR LIFE EVENT
DAPHNE'S FRIENDS AND FAMILY TEAM
WHEN: From 3:00pm Friday, July 18th until
3:00pm Saturday, July 19th
WHERE: Calhoun County Fairgrounds, Marshall
This year we are dedicating our team relay to two special people - in
memory of Gordy Parrish and in honor of fabulous survivor, Kathy Mill.
At
6:00pm on Friday, survivors and their loved ones are invited to walk a
victory lap with crowds of people lining the course cheering and
applauding with many
of us moved to tears. At 9:00pm hundreds of "luminaries" will be lit to
remember those lost to cancer, those who are fighting cancer and those
who have fought and won! Jerry and I, along with my family will be at
our team site the entire 24 hours. We will have great food, fun and a
fighting spirit.
There are so many different ways you can help our team this year:
- Sign
up to walk for one or more time slots (our goal is to have at least one
person representing our team on the track the entire 24 hours)
- Make a donation to our team in any amount you can afford: payable to the American Cancer Society.
- Donate $10.00 for a luminary to honor a survivor or in memory of someone you know who has lost the battle
LUMINARIES
For those of you who are not familiar with the luminary program, it is a way to honor
someone who has lost the battle against cancer or who is a cancer
survivor. The luminaries line the entire walking path at the Calhoun
County Fairgrounds in Marshall on Friday evening, July 18th at 9:00pm
and remain lit throughout the night. It is truly a spectacular site.
The luminaries are available for a $10.00 donation with all proceeds
going to the "American Cancer society." For further details or questions call me at 1-877-568-5568 or email me at daphnes@cablespeed.com. You should really try to come and see how impressive this sight truly is!

Having trouble selling your home?
Let St. Joseph help!!
The custom of burying a St. Joseph statue to sell your home has been around for centuries.
The custom most likely began when European nuns buried medals with a St. Joseph likeness on property they hoped to acquire for convents.
Over time, the medals were replaced with statues and the focus changed from buying to selling.
Custom has it that the statue should be buried upside down in the front yard with the feet pointing to heaven. It may face toward your home - or toward the street if you want your neighbor's home to sell!!
When your house is sold, thank God and St. Joseph for their blessings. Then, retrieve the statue and give St. Joseph a place of honor in your new home.
