Peggy Abrams is recognized around the world for the nostalgic and sentimental images she has been creating for decades. Peggy
Abrams sketched from the time she could hold a pencil until she was a
teenager, when she began working with oils. While it may be hard to
believe an infant could actually sketch, Peggys mother insisted her
daughter was born with a pencil in her hand instead of a rattle.
Peggy grew up in a farming community in
Michigan. Peggys family provided her with any means possible to
nurture her artistic talents. Her mother would save old wallpaper and
Shredded Wheat boxes for her to draw on.
As a young girl, Peggy was inspired by
old-fashioned dolls, lace and large hats; elements of the stylish
Victorian era which always interested Peggy. As a teenager, she began
collecting old-fashioned postcards with fancy dresses and ladies in big
hats. Peggys grandchildren also inspire her as she often paints
watercolor portraits of them.
After many years of designing florals and Victorian
images, Peggy began to develop a series of the distinctive Santas. Her
"Windswept Santas" have become her signature collection.
Today, Peggy is famous for her Victorian Santas,
flower arrangements and accessories in addition to her gardening images
and an extensive line of Christmas images.
Peggy's large collection of work is developed in her converted garage studio and licensed through many companies.
